March 2019
Believe in Haiti is devoted to keeping Haitian families together through love, education, and service, while empowering individuals to rise above their current poverty level.

This is Haiti

Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere.  Around 80 percent of Haitians live in poverty, seeing barely more than $2 a day.   Over 90 percent of Haitians are at risk of facing natural disasters.  A massive earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, to which the country is still trying to recover from.  Then in 2016, Hurricane Matthew brought more devastation to the country.  Currently, there is political unrest bringing protests to the streets of Haiti. But if you look deep within, you will see what we see.

You will see a beautiful country...

Hearts.
We are sad to hear and see the political situation in Haiti.  While this is what most people hear about Haiti, we are grateful that we get to go, connect, and see firsthand another story.  We see the true beauty, people, and friendships many don't hear about.
That is one of the reasons we love Haiti.

Trip News

Two members of Believe in Haiti were able to make a trip down at the end of February.  They started by visiting and taking supplies to a nearby hospital and checking in on our up-and-running Hope Center (it looked great!).  A great accomplishment was visiting various agricultural centers as well as meeting with agronomists.  All these visits help to ensure that our farmland has a strong start and that there are well-trained people to maintain the crops.  We set up a team of people to farm the land and brought in an agronomist, who is already teaching the team proper methods and needs of the land.  They have already planted manioc, a well-used crop in Haiti. (It was a very busy and productive trip!  Please click HERE to read more...)
Our trips are filled with work, play, and a lot of love! Want to join us?

Upcoming Events

Our next planned trip is April 19-24.
Safety is of utmost importance to us.  While we felt secure during our most recent trip and were able to fully enjoy our visit, we will always monitor the situation closely and alter trip dates if needed.

Haiti Spotlight
Alexandra

Alexandra demonstrates what all the children of St. Rock can become with hard work and dedication.  She is one of the first secondary school students sponsored by Believe in Haiti to graduate and pass the national test. For many students in Haiti, their secondary education marks the end of their formal education and training; if they even make it that far, as the majority of students drop out of primary school. Alexandra’s education will continue, as she has a desire to become a nurse and is hoping to secure a scholarship through Believe in Haiti which will allow her to enroll in nursing school. The future of St. Rock and Haiti is dependent on young people like Alexandra gaining the necessary education and training to better their life and the lives around them. Your continued support of Believe in Haiti will provide scholarship opportunities for Alexandra, as well as future students who complete secondary school.
