Over 50 golfers participated in the Charity Golf Classic at Ivanhoe Club in Mundelein, IL on August 26, 2018. The event raised over $20,000 to fund the ongoing operations of Believe in Haiti. Much of the success of the event rested on the event’s sponsors, Mark and Sarah Hosford, and the Ivanhoe Club.
Following the golf event, guests were treated to a video presentation summarizing the vision and goals of Believe in Haiti, while mingling and socializing. During dinner, the keynote speakers addressed the audience and shared the inspiration behind their work in Haiti.
“I am immensely grateful for the support shown to the people we serve in Haiti and to our organization, Believe in Haiti,” said Whitney Henwood, Believe in Haiti President and Co-Founder. “With the funds raised we will be able to build our capacity and maintain our services to the families and children of St. Rock.”
Whitney Henwood spoke of the humble beginnings of the organization and shared her vision for the future of the organization. Mackenson Noel, founding member of the organization’s Haitian Board of Directors, reinforced the needs of the Haitian people from a first-hand perspective and thanked the audience for their generous donations to his country. Cary LaCouture, Believe in Haiti’s Medical and Dental Team Leader, impressed upon the audience the desperate situation faced by many in Haiti, as well as his passion for serving the dental needs of impoverished families in Haiti.
